Welcome to the yummy Eyre Peninsula; known for its seafood, aquaculture, fishing, agriculture and mining. Did you know that over 60% of South Australia’s seafood comes from this region alone and is known as Australia’s seafood frontier. You can drive the Seafood Frontier trail along the coast which includes oysters from Coffin Bay, abalone from Streaky Bay, rock lobster, and Blue Fin Tuna King George Whiting from Boston Bay, just to name a few. You can visit an oyster farm and wade into the waters to harvest and shuck your own oysters. Apart from seafood you’ll drive past lots of grain fields and there are some small wineries you can visit. The Eyre Peninsula is also known as a marine play ground where you can see dolphins, great white sharks, sea lions, giant cuttlefish, schools of fish and Southern Wright Wales. It’s a great place to fish for kingfish, blue fin tuna, snapper, blue swimmer crabs and King George whiting.
