Welcome to the Limestone Coast; a region of world famous wineries, diverse farmlands, ancient caves and stunning wilderness. The Limestone Coast region has over 40 cellar doors spread across four separate wine regions; the most famous is the Coonawarra wine region with its unique soil and climate which produces premium red wines. When you’re in this region you should take the chance to visit one of the pretty seaside villages, the spectacular Blue Lake at Mount Gambier (which sits in the crater of a dormant volcano) and the ancient Naracoorte Caves which is a World Heritage Listed site and has fossils of ancient animals. With over 400Km of coastline and plenty of rich farm lands, this makes the Limestone Coast a foodie’s paradise. You can enjoy a lot of fresh seafood in this region including The Big Lobster; the world’s largest crustacean. There is also The Limestone Coast Real Food Trail that you can follow to explore some of the delicious delights of over 45 local producers, cellar doors, restaurants and farm gate experiences.
