Welcome to the Riverland region, where over a quarter of Australia’s wine grapes are grown. The warm climate of this region makes it a great place to grow wine grapes and all the major wine grape varieties flourish here. This region is home to Berri Estates; the largest winery and distillery in the Southern Hemisphere. As the Riverland is a major wine grape production region, there are many cellar doors as well distilleries you can visit. As the Murray River runs through the Riverlands, it invites a host of activities like camping, boating, fishing and other water related activities. There is an annual Riverland Food and Wine Festival every October on the bank of the Murray river which is a chance to taste the regions delicious local produce, artisan products and good wines. Apart from wine grapes, this region is well known for its range of citrus, range of stone fruits and almonds.
