Welcome to the stunning Coral Coast region of WA; famous for its world renowned marine habitats, stunning desert formations, national parks and gorgeous landscapes. Visit one of the World Heritage listed marine areas of Shark Bay or Ningaloo Reef. At Shark Bay you can feed dolphins or how about swimming with the large but gentle whale sharks from March to August at Ningaloo Reef. This amazing reef is also known for snorkelling, diving, boat tours, and just being an all-round amazing ocean playground for both human and underwater visitors. Ningaloo is known as WA’s premier game fishing area including catch such as tuna, marlin, mahi, cod, emperor, Spanish mackerel and bream (to name just a few). It goes without saying that great fishing and stunning seafood in synonomous with this region. Be sure to try the famous Geraldton rock lobster or Exmouth’s prawns. This region is also home to the Gascoyne region which is commonly refered to as Western Australian's food bowl. The Gascoyne is packed with all sorts of fruits, vegetables and boutique providores. Follow the Gascoyne Food Trail to sample a good cross section of the great produce on offer. Other than the marine wonders of the region you could enjoy beach camel rides, 4WD trips and Aboriginal cultural tours. Visit the stunning Pinnacles Desert, where thousands of spikes of limestone (shaped over millions of years) poke out of yellow desert sands. Take a visit to Lake Theis to meet earth’s oldest living life forms known as Stomatolites, which were here even before the dinosaurs.
