Welcome to Australia’s Golden Outback region; an expansive landscape encompassing red dirt highways, colourful native wildflowers, unique rock formations, national parks, white sand beaches, gold rush history, the world’s largest outdoor art gallery, caves, 4WD tours, wildlife spotting and Aboriginal cultural tours. Around Esperance you can visit one of the many pristine beaches or islands this region is known for, including a visit to Lucky Bay which actually has Australia’s whitest beach. Or take a flight over the Recherche islands to view the famous pink Lake Hillier- yes the water is bright pink! This region is known for wave rock which is appropriately named as this 110m long multi coloured rock resembles a huge 15m high wave. The town of Hyden is the base to go and see Wave rock and you’ll see vast wheat fields around this town. No visit to this vast region is complete without a stop in Kalgoorlie which has a rich mining and colonial history. You can visit a large open cut mine, enjoy the lively nightlife, play on a desert golf course or travel north to see the vast salt fields of Lake Ballard which is home to the World’s largest outdoor art gallery. Did you know that this region is home to the world’s largest monolith called Mount Augustus which is twice the size of Uluru!
